HAC Hearing Aid Compatible IP Desk Phones

We are quite often asked for IP desk phones that are hearing aid compatible (HAC). HAC means that the phone has a inductive coupler, which will work directly with a hearing aid to give a clearer sound.

We are pleased to announce the arrival of the new Yealink T23GN mid range desk phone. This new model is in addition to and builds on the highly popular and successful T22PN. However, whilst it is priced the same as the T22PN the T23GN offers the following additional features:

  • Dual Coloured (red & green) LED buttons for more effective BLF
  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports

Announcing the new snom D715

The new snom D715 IP phone is now in stock and available at ProVu. This new model replaces the previously popular 715 and has all the same features and auto provisioning capabilities of its predecessor.

The only significant change is to the colour of plastic which is now black. The D715 is in the same form as snom’s 710 but the D715 has the advantage of dual Gigabit Ethernet ports for faster data throughput and a USB port for connecting either a USB headset, bluetooth headset, WiFi dongle or the D7 expansion module.

Jingle Doorbells

Here in the sales office, we were very impressed by the technical office’s tree and thought we’d get into the festive spirit ourselves. By one-upping them!

Using a 2N Netspeaker we hooked up our doorbell so that whenever someone presses it, Jingle Bells plays! Along with a blue strobe light being activated.

This is, of course, far from the limit of what a NetSpeaker can do. If you want to know more about it, feel free to give our friendly (and very festive) sales team a call!

Wireless Headsets with Polycom phones

There is a very useful PDF guide on setting up Plantronics, Jabra and Sennheiser wireless EHS headsets with Polycom phones here:

You need to have bought the relevant EHS cable for Polycom phones and the headset you are using. We can source these cables, please give our sales people a call.

Two things I noticed when testing:

  • If you have a Polycom IP321 or IP331 phone then you need an rj9-2.5mm jack convertor (when using a Sennheiser headset at least). We can sell you this, part code is RJ9-2.5MM-5PK. This goes between the rj9 connector on the EHS adaptor and the 2.5mm jack headset port on the phone.

  • The PDF tells you to go into these menus on the phone:

    Menu > Settings > Basic > Preferences > Headset > Analog Headset

    On the phone I used which was on 4.1.0 firmware the actual menu sequence was:

    Menu > Settings > Basic > Preferences > Headset > Hookswitch Mode

      • Make sure to pay attention to the headset mode settings on the headset itself by turning the dial(s) or DIP switch as per the Polycom PDF.
