DPD for bigger deliveries

Most ProVu deliveries are shipped using either DPD or APC.

Up until now, we have only used DPD for shipments which fitted in one box. For shipments in multiple boxes DPD was a special option and the prices were worked out manually by our sales team.

From today (7th March 2016) we will be offering DPD as an option for all deliveries up to 100 Kg. (about 50 phones).

The pricing is in ProSys and you can choose DPD from the drop down menu.

For larger orders, DPD tends to be a bit more expensive than APC. But we know some customers like the txts and emails that DPD can send to your end users to update on delivery status.

The background is that DPD is pricing based on the number of parcels in a delivery. APC price based on the total weight of the shipment. For DPD we have to estimate how many boxes each delivery will fit into.

As with all new services, we value your feedback. If you see something which doesn’t seem quite right, please get in touch. 01484 840048

Snom BBC News story

A story was published on the BBC News website today regarding a vulnerability in snom phones that could allow someone to eavesdrop on you.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-35579273

If you read this story earlier today, you should re-read it as it has been substantially edited in the last hour or so.

I would just like to reassure customers that this is not news to either ourselves or snom. It is just a case of setting decent passwords on the phone and using up to date firmware. Devices must be set up correctly to operate in a secure fashion, snom phones actually do more to remind you to do this than any other phone – they have messages on the LCD screens and web interfaces.

Also, ProVu advise customers on security best-practices and we can provision a sensible set of default settings to your IP phones.

Snom publish a best-practices guide here:

http://wiki.snom.com/FAQ/How_do_I_secure_my_phone

The gist of this is to use recent firmware, set a strong HTTP password and leave hidden-tags turned on.

This advice pretty much fits with any SIP phone (indeed, any device you connect to your network).

It’s a shame snom have been singled out here because they do more than many to secure their phones.

Paul.

Exclusive Collaboration between 2N & Gigaset pro!

Following rigorous testing and collaborative working between Gigaset pro and 2N, both vendors have announced full compatibility between 2N’s door entry intercom units and Gigaset’s Maxwell 10 tablet-IP phone. Having also been tested by our very own technical team, we believe this is a great collaboration which provides the ultimate access control solution.

Gigaset Maxwell 10

Ideal as an access end point, the Gigaset Maxwell 10 is an all-in-one business communication device. With a large 10 inch HD multi-touch-screen, it makes access control safe and easy by displaying clear images, fed directly from 2N intercom units.

2N Verso

Developed as a modular system, the 2N Verso has great flexibility and can be configured to meet individual requirements. Verso modules can be configured to include:

  • Multiple buttons
  • Wide angled camera
  • Keypad
  • RFID reader

The Maxwell 10 and Verso combination offers the complete access control solution and we believe this new collaboration is a great package for both business and home automation applications.
