How to capture a trace in 3CX

There are a couple of ways to capture logging information on 3CX, here is a guide on how to obtain both.

Capturing an Activity Log

Step 1 – From the Dashboard of the Management Console click on Activity Log (As shown below)

Step 2 – Click on Settings (Highlighted below)

Step 3 – Change the Logging Level to Verbose and press OK (Highlighted below)

Step 4 – Once you have pressed OK click on Capture (Highlighted below)

Step 5 – Once you have clicked on Capture the following window will pop up below.

At this stage you should replicate the fault you are experiencing and then press Stop. (Highlighted below)

Step 6 – After you have clicked Stop the following window should pop up, click ‘here‘ to download the PCAP file then press ‘OK‘ (Both highlighted below)

Step 7 – Once the file has download please send this over to support@provu.co.uk with a description of the fault you are experiencing so we can look into this for you.

Generating Support Info

You can also Generate Support Information by doing the following:

Step 1 – From the Dashboard of the Management Console hover over Support at the top right and click on Generate Support Info(Highlighted below)

Step 2 – Once done the Administrator will get an email with the support information and the following window should appear:

Once the Admin received the support information please forward to to suport@provu.co.uk with a description of the fault you are experiencing so we can look into this for you.

Yealink T2x & T4x phones on 3CX – Firmware upgrade issues.

You may have recently noticed that some of your Yealink T2x & T4x series devices in use on your 3CX platform have been telling you that the FW version is no longer supported and you need to upgrade.

Yet when you try and upgrade using the 3CX fw upgrade feature it fails. The phone appears to start the upgrade but then reboots and does not upgrade.

The problem specifically is an earlier FW version that users were prompted to upgrade to.

The version in question is xx.83.0.55.

Something broke FW upgrading in this version and phones that found themselves on this version are no longer able to upgrade directly to the latest recommended 3CX FW version.

The fix for this is to manually upgrade the phones to an intermediary version xx.84.0.35 that fixes the FW upgrade issue.

Worth noting that it should also be possible to provision this upgrade to the phones.

After this upgrade the phones will be able to upgrade normally using the 3CX platform.

3CX Part Code/Ordering Guide

There are lots of different 3CX licences available and you’ll need to make sure you order the right system for your customer depending on whether they would like a subscription or perpetual licence, the number of users they have and what features they require.

The list of licence part codes looks long but really they are quite simple. We’ve put this quick reference guide together to help you to quickly pick out the correct part code for your install.

Please note, that from November 2020 new perpetual Standard and Professional licences are no longer available to purchase and therefore the list below has been updated to reflect this change.

What’s New? 3CX V16 & Pricing

With less than a week to go until the launch of 3CX’s V16, 3CX are inviting partners to join their Live Launch Session at 15:00 on Wednesday 27th March, simply head over to their YouTube Channel on Wednesday to find out more about the much anticipated version update.

New Pricing

As part of their revamp, 3CX implemented a new pricing structure last week. The new pricing saw reductions of up to 40%, making many licences become more competitively priced. Please note, however, the pricing of some perpetual licences has now increased.

4 & 8 Seat Licences

Licences for anything below 16 sc are now only available as annual licences. Customers who currently have 4 and 8 sc licences on a perpetual basis can continue to renew their maintenance or upgrade to 16 sc.

Automatic Updates

In order to maintain the same license features on V16 commercial standard keys will be upgraded to professional. If you do not wish to upgrade to V16 or to be upgraded to a professional licence, please disable automatic updates on the PBX now.

What’s New? 3CX Standard & Free Licences

As you may be aware, 3CX are changing their free and standard licences as of 1st April 2019. In order to help you prepare for these changes, we will be putting together a series of blogs which will break down the changes for you.

Changes to Standard Licences:

As part of the revamp, some features are being removed from Standard licences, these include:

  • Call recording
  • Call reporting
  • Queues
  • Office 365 Integration
  • Bridges

These features will remain available on Pro and Enterprise level licences. If you are already on a paid version of the Standard licence and still have valid maintenance you do not need to do anything, your licences will be upgraded to Pro free of charge for the remainder of the licence contract. Following the licence duration, you will need to renew your licence via Pro maintenance to maintain these features.

Changes to Free Version

All free licences downloaded from 3CX’s website after 1st April 2019 will be a V16 Pro annual licence. This licence will be valid for 40 days from the initial activation date. Following this, the licence key will then revert to a standard licence unless it is upgraded.

We’ve Added a New Date to our 3CX Basic Training Courses

We’ve added an additional date to our 3CX basic training course in April. Following a successful kick start to 2019 with our January basic training course, our 4th April course is now full, but worry not, we have added an extra date on the 3rd April 2019. Register now to reserve your free space!
